Are you looking for birthday party inspiration for girls? One look at this Ice Cream Shoppe Theme Dessert Table by our Cake Appreciation Society Member, Cakes and Biscuits by Lisa, had us convinced that there’s no age limit for having an Ice Cream Shoppe Themed birthday celebration. Some girls are lucky!  When Jasmin turned 4, her mum Lisa created this gorgeously themed Birthday Dessert Table with the main attraction centrepiece being the ‘Double Scoop Ice Cream Cone’ Birthday Cake, complete with a cherry on top, appearing to defy gravity.

Lisa made the cake, cake pops and assorted other yummy treats for the birthday dessert table. She even made the backdrop which really sets the scene for the very sweet looking Ice Cream Shoppe theme (we’re loving the pink and white stripes!)

Chinese New Year celebrations last for fifteen days, beginning on the evening of the first day of the new year. Chinese New Year’s is different than that in the Western world, because the Chinese use a lunar calendar. New Years Eve can be anytime from January to March each year, depending on the calendar for the year.

This year, Chinese New Year 2012,  is actually The Chinese year 4710 which begins on January 23 2012. The Chinese people all over  the world are celebrating the  New Year with a new sign, the Dragon so it’s known as The Year of  The  Dragon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Cake Appreciation Society to all celebrating the Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year/Spring Festival in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Phillipines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea and Vietnam, and elsewhere around the world!  Celebrations kick off January 23 2012 to bring in the Year of the Dragon.

The Year of the Dragon is considered to be very lucky year by the Chinese for people to get married and also to have a baby.  Our prediction?  Lots of wedding cakes and baby celebration cakes coming up in 2012!
